Transportation to and from Mesa Verde is at the employee’s expense. Cortez, Colorado, is ten miles west of the park entrance. Durango is 36 miles east of the park entrance. Employees driving their own cars into the park are required by National Park Service to show proof of auto insurance. A daily employee shuttle is available from the park entrance to work locations at no charge to employees.

There is no public or company provided transportation between Cortez, Mesa Verde and Durango.

Please note: Hiking is restricted to designated trails and back-country hiking is prohibited within the park boundaries. Activities within the park are limited. Due to the remote location of employee housing, those without their own transpiration may find it difficult to take advantage of the vast array of recreational opportunities surrounding Mesa Verde.
